I have heard so much about Tatsu-ya and I am not even from Texas. Plenty of "best of" lists online talking about the best ramen in the States mention this little gem, so it was a no brainer that during my first trip to Austin that this would be a must-eat.
To start, I love ramen, and have had plenty of bowls in my life from all over. When it comes to finding the "best" ramen in the States, I can't say that it's something I can actually agree upon. However, I know when I have amazing, phenomenal ramen, and this place certainly lives up to its expectations.
At Tatsu-ya, you can expect to wait up to 30 minutes queuing outside. They've got a great system in place of letting parties in to order at the counter, and having enough tables/seats available to fit all appropriate parties. The decor was comfortable and not jam-packed like I had imagined given it was such a popular place.
