Amazing French Fries at the Salty Sow

June 21, 2014

OK....this is something truly original.  You think you know French fries?  Well, not any more.  At the Salty Sow, on 1917 Manor Road, you can try something really special.  Nearly everyone overlooks French fries as a common side portion on your plate...well this is something truly unique.

Let me tell you  - this place knows what fries are all about.  We showed up on a Wednesday night at 7pm and only had to wait 30 minutes. During our wait they showed us to a "waiting area" where we could still order food and drinks.  Not long after we were seated and the fun began. We ordered the deviled eggs and the chicken liver mouse. Both were incredibly tasty. The only annoying thing is that they don't give you nearly enough bread so we had to continue asking for more.

Now for the fries.  They are called 'Duck Fat Fries'.  Amazing.  The egg acts as a perfect sauce for the rich duck fat potatoes.  With an amazing texture, they will still be great even 30 minutes into dinner. A bit too rich to finish by yourself though, so be warned.

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. The dim lights gave it a cozy and intimate feel in an upscale, classy place. Will definitely be back :)
