Best Grilled Cheese in Austin - The Wholly Cow!!!

January 15, 2017

On the 3000 block of South Lamar Blvd., there's a grilled cheese you absolutely must sample.

Now, if you think like I do, a healthy grilled cheese is pointless.  You want the slight tinge of oil from the butter atop the bread.  You want the cheese to be thick, decadent and melty.  You want it ALL.  Well, at Wholly Cow, you get it all.

This place is really cool.  The owner is incredibly nice and very helpful.  Really cool burger place that shares with a convenient store.  They have gluten free options which is greatly appreciated and a great beer selection.  You cannot consume any alcohol on the property which is a bit of a bummer because a unique beer with my burger would have been cool but thats ok.  I have been there 2 times and will absolutely be back again.

Even though I am not a big fan of sandwiches as a full mean (I don't eat burgers much), I love their grilled cheese (all gooey!) on whole wheat Texas toast, and their onion rings are mind-blowingly delicious! When I eat it, I am a happy girl.

Food aside, the staff is lovely and there are always farmer's market veggies to buy, as well as various sundries. Garth (the owner) knows everything about beer and always has creative and exciting recommendations.
