Even though it's the middle March, but it's still cold in Austin. And if you've never enjoyed a big, hot delicious bowl of amazing pho, you don't know what you're missing. And Saigon Pho, on North Lamar Street, is the answer to your local Pho experience. In its most basic form, a bowl of pho consists of a foundation of rice noodles topped with thinly sliced raw beef, which gets cooked when a portion of steaming, spiced beef broth is poured over top. Finished with a flurry of fresh herbs, like cilantro and basil, as well as crunchy bean sprouts, hot chilies, and tart lime, pho makes an, ahem, restorative meal any time of day.
Pho Saigon delivers your decent fix for pho and Vietnamese cuisine. I think their items are adequate but not the best. It is your average pho restaurant where it can be improved in flavor. This place has BY FAR the best Vietnamese fried egg rolls in town. I highly recommend them! They come in pairs and are absolutely fantastic. Be careful as they always come out fresh and super hot! The Vietnamese spring rolls are also delicious so I end up over- ordering and getting both these and the egg rolls. The peanut sauce is consist and smooth and is a perfect pairing.
Pho Saigon....Pho sure!
