Delis have been around for decades now. And the very best delis get all the attention. The quality of the food, value and ambiance matter most. Also, a specific menu really helps. Something that makes the spot a signature spot for the locals.
Well, my step-son not only goes to Murchison Middle School (central north Austin), but Biderman's Deli is located directly across the street.
Biderman's is a fantastic Jewish-inspired deli, bringing much-needed sandwiches, sandwich combos and bagels to north Austin. The counter-service Jewish delicatessen serves up classic bagels loaded with cream cheese, lox, whitefish, and more. Then there are the classic sandwiches, from the standout Reuben to the pastrami/corned beef/chopped liver combination during daytime and early evening hours.
I can't say enough good things about this place. It has almost everything you'd want in a good restaurant aside from fine dining that is. It's not designed to be a fine dining restaurant. It's meant to be a casual, comfortable, and just warm place to eat some fantastic Jewish-inspired food.
