Austin is one serious city when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July. As one of the new cultural epicenters of the American Revolution and Texas Freedom, Austin's historical relevance is cemented … as is the ability of its citizens to really embrace Independence Day as yet another reason to party extremely hard. There are a bevy of parties and get-togethers happening in and around the city, from the big and small, great and tall. Here are just a few of the places to be this July 4th.
Sour Duck Market is offering a special 4th of July packaged meal that feeds a sizable family of six: Chicken, pulled pork, sausages plus sides and sweets like beans, bread, cookies, and sauces. Prices start at $120. You have to call to place an order. Picking up your food can takes place on July 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Better Half hosts something called "Honky Tonk Amnesia" - all-day restaurant is getting into the Fourth of July spirit early by playing Willie Nelson songs among other artists, while serving up hot dogs : 406 Walsh Street, Austin, Texas. A great time!
Nickel City is hosting a coney dog eating contest (hot dogs topped with chili) for the Fourth, the winner will receive a year’s worth of free coney dogs. There are rumors of patriotic Jello shots too. It runs from 4 to 8 p.m.
