When you’re in the 11-thousand block of North Lamar Blvd, you can’t miss this place – a cozy, white and blue building with SANTORINI in large letters. When you walk inside, it’s a warm and comfy atmosphere. Thanks to the owners and atmosphere for the feel-at-home sentiment. This was a gratifying meal and a pleasant farewell before leaving for Austin for a while. It set the mood to be on travel mode.
First of all, this place has the BEST Gyros I've ever had. The outside of the Gyro (the pita?) is delicious, perfectly crispy yet soft. All the other gyro places I've tried the outside shell has always been soft. The lamb was delicious, the sauce complimented everything. I'm a fan. The fries were also delicious.
The owners are (of course) Greek and have a hard time understanding us. We placed our order at the counter and the food came out timely. GET THE TZATZIKI and dip your tzatziki in your feta fries with lamb. Thank me later. It's a must. While the Hummus and baba ganoush were great too, we were already thinking about amazing items to order when we return to Austin for another dinner.
The lamb is unlike any other, I can't even explain it, but the quality is much better than any other Greek place that I have been to. They have awesome lunch specials as well. It's very affordable for lunch and the service is pretty quick as well for the lunch rush. The employees are extremely friendly and truly care about your experience. They have amazing little desserts. There is nothing here that will disappoint you.
The prices are great but the best part is the service. Every time I've gone the nice couple that run the place are always very welcoming and really give you that homely feel. Think visiting a friend's parents house whom will cook for you. If you're looking for a fabulous Greek meal in North Austin, look no further! Santorini serves fresh and delicious Greek food with kindness and excellent service.
