My husband & I visited this location mid-morning on a weekday after a doctor’s visit as it is across the street from Seton Medical Center. There was no wait. We sat in a cute booth. I had the sweet potato pancakes, a signature dish, even though I usually don’t like sweet potatoes! They were wonderful! My husband’s blueberry pancakes were good, too! The decor is funky and the service is good.
But, when it comes to those of you who love a delicious Eggs Benedict, this is the place for you. First of all – what IS an Eggs Benedict? Well, it’s s an American breakfast or brunch dish, consisting of two halves of an English muffin each topped with a Canadian bacon, poached egg, and Hollandaise sauce. It was popularized in New York City. And if you’re wondering where it was originally invented (according to Delmonico's legend) Eggs Benedict was created for and named after restaurant regulars Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Benedict in the 1860s. We know what was in Ranhofer's original Eggs Benedict because he included the recipe in The Epicurean, his 1,200-page encyclopedic cookbook that was published in 1894.
And when you’re in Austin, there is no better offering of Eggs Benedict than Snooze AM Eatery (multiple locations). In fact, their menu has an entire section that is devoted to a wide variety of amazing Eggs Benedict options - Ham Benedict III, Bella! Bella! Benny, Smashed Avocado Benny, Chile Verde Benedict, Lox-n-Latke Benny, Habanero Pork Belly Benny and the ‘Benny Duo’ – choosing your own half an order of two different Eggs Benedict options to enjoy. My personal favorite of them all is the Smashed Avocado Benny – Snooze’s signature English muffin topped with fresh, smashed avocado, Parmesan cheese, ripened tomatoes, poached cage-free eggs, smoked cheddar Hollandaise and Everything spiced. Full of flavor and we had to split it…so much to eat! By the way – all Eggs Benedict menu items come with their delicious hash browns.
But whether you’re talking about Eggs Benedict or the entire menu, the food at Snooze is so flavorful and fresh. Also great espresso coffee available, even offering the option of alternate milks. The service was excellent and very friendly.
Quick Note – there’s a bit of a wait on a Sunday morning, but considering the love for this place, it’s to be expected.
Menu was large and choices for all. Great to have some healthy options as well. Highly recommend and I will definitely go back.
