If you’re a fan of French pastries, this is your spot in Houston.
A little background information for you: The French Gourmet Bakery, founded by Mary & Patrice Ramain, has been serving Houstonians for over 40 years. Established in 1973, their family business has remained a Houston icon for those who adore French & American style scrumptious cakes, cookies, pastries and breads. From the moment you walk inside, you’re hooked.
By the way, my sister was debating on purchasing a $60 cake, but her friend surprised her and got her “a buche de Noel.” Well, we had a chance to enjoy it all together during the holidays and it was amazing. The cake was moist with some cake wine, the buttercream was smooth and light. We ate them at room temp, but I honestly like them cold, where the cream is harder. Either way, I'm sad I don't know where else I can find this in Austin.
This is a top lunch find for those of us who enjoy a tearoom menu offering. Delicious made fresh quiche, and breads as well as gluten-free chicken, tuna, and egg salads. Sandwiches are offered on croissant, baguette, Country French (white), and Tuscan (wheat). After lunch, feel free to take home any one of many amazing desserts!
Keep in mind that their Summertime hours differ from April – September and they are closed on Sunday. When I paid them a visit, their hours were from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Their amazing team also provides amazing breakfasts, desserts, lunches, cakes and catering services.
Give them a try and pay them a visit. You won’t regret it!
